PROCONSUL® ARCHITECTURE - The Way it Works
|
Flexibility to Support the Dynamic Nature of Business
Inside the typical Corporation, there are multiple processes, skills sets, metrics, experiences and even sub-cultures that could make it difficult to successfully sell a one sits fits all solution. That is why PROCONSUL was designed with flexibility to allow for unique differences even within an organization. A typical implementation of the solution at a Corporation could involve multiple, distinct Divisional implementations.
Each Division may have unique needs. In order to address this problem, PROCONSUL was designed with a two level hierarchy that enables Corporations to standardize all process (project models) from a Corporate level or it can be configured to allow unique processes (models) to continue to run within the Divisions of a Corporation. BUSINESS DIVISIONS
PROCONSUL provides powerful component modules such as the Enterprise Information Manager (EIM), Enterprise Knowledge Manager Module (EKM), Modeler/Planner Estimator and Project Portfolio Manager. In addition, it the powerful capabilities of the Business Rules Engine and the Workflow Engine.
ARCHITECTURE Please review the architecture information link provided above as a basis for understanding the relationship between PROCONSUL Modules and PROCONSUL Rules engine and the Workflow Engines.
PROCONSUL® Core Components
Core components provide the glue that binds all of our solutions. The following are brief descriptions of the core components:
- Enterprise Information Manager (EIM) is the information administration component of our suite. EIM focuses on basic system access issues as well as capturing unique business content information at the Corporate and Divisional level
-
Enterprise Knowledge Manager (EKM) provides the “brains” of the system. This component allows for generic (already packaged with the core product) or customizable process models. The models not only contain the process steps, but also the tools, templates, deliverables and examples of how to complete the tasks required to support the process
- Modeler-Planner-Estimator (MPE) uses models developed in EKM to generate project estimates and plans. PROCONSUL cuts the planning cycle from weeks to days or hours. PROCONSUL synchronizes planning and estimating data with actual project scheduling data
-
Project Portfolio Manager (PPM) provides the user with the tools to effectively manage and monitor a Corporate Portfolio of Projects. By providing an Enterprise view of the current portfolio of both active and inactive projects, an organization can constantly check to ensure their project portfolio is in line with their strategic goals
- The Enterprise Knowledge Portfolio (EKP) is the database engine that captures real world experience and helps turn it into knowledge. The ability to store and learn from real world performance is the critical to enabling continuous process improvement
- Workflow is the engine that distributes work to the users in a simple, easy to read format. We provide a “push” workflow concept that pushes tasks and tools to the appropriate user at the time they need to execute them WORKFLOW ENGINE
- Rules Engine component is the critical link between EKM and the unique components of each of the products. The rules engine uses the information generated in the unique components to suggest what process models to use given the conditions/constraints identified by the end user. RULES ENGINE
